Last week was Local Restaurant Week in Buffalo Niagara. Nearly 150 independent restaurants throughout Western New York participated, offering prix fix menus for $20.09. The event was a huge success with many people venturing off to try new restaurants or visit some of their old favorites.

“The response was overwhelmingly positive after each evening,” said Mike Andrzejewski, owner of Sea Bar restaurant and co-founder of this first time event. “I have heard from many restaurant people, both owners and workers, about the excitement generated and the big city feel of the week.”

One person especially excited about this event was Michele Butlak, who wrote in to tell us of her experience:
“Hats off to Local Restaurant Week. We went out 3 times for dinner that week -my husband and I eat out on the average once every two months as my husband is a cook. Restaurant week was not a disappointment. We enjoyed the food, service and the price was right. We visited Stillwater, Eddie Ryans and Frog Hair. It was a nice variety of restaurants to experience Buffalo’s cuisine along with reasonable prices, quality food, and selection. They offered special menus but those items ranged from steak, fish and chicken – something for everyone. My only regret is it didn’t last longer. I look forward to seeing it next year.”
